Kerry Wins Flavor of the Year at SNAXPO

According to SNAC International, the 2018 Flavor Pavilion at SNAXPO is the place for “exhibiting flavor and seasoning suppliers to showcase bold flavor profiles on the trade show floor, sparking the next snacking obsession!” 

SNAXPO attendees had the opportunity to sample the unique flavors and voted Kerry’s Raspberry Dark Chocolate Almond as the 2018 Flavor of the Year.

Although promoted as a venue for SNAXPO attendees to sample bold and exotic flavors, Kerry wanted to showcase their ability to deliver a more traditional, craveable flavor. Utilizing real fruit Crystals™ to deliver a unique raspberry color and popping raspberry flavor, the traditional flavored almonds were taken to a new level. 

“We evaluated trending fruit flavors for 2018 including mango, blueberry, grilled pineapple, and also raspberry since it’s a classic pairing with Dark Chocolate,” said Alex Riesche, R&D Manager and lead concept creator for the Raspberry Dark Chocolate Almond. “Raspberry won due to the pop in color and great flavor balance!”

Riesche also stated that the Kerry team creates a lot of great-tasting chocolate almonds and wanted to showcase an indulgent almond with reduced sugar, increased protein, and an overall fun spin on coated almonds. 

“There are lots of different chocolate-coated nut products out there, but we took down the level of chocolate and partnered with our Snack Seasonings team to come up with this winning flavor pairing,” Riesche said.

Kerry also showcased a Grilled Pineapple Dark Chocolate at their SNAXPO booth which includes the highly popular Smoke & Grill technologies.
